Clan History

SlingBlades first began in December of 2003. Eight players Dragon, Hpower, Jester, Mazda, JWFIV, Hung, Madman and Yosh all regularly visited a popular and rare no-shield server. A player by the name of BaD-MoJo ran the server it was a small 8 player server run from his home.

The eight players had never met or had known each other outside of Halo but Dragon felt that we were regulars enough to form a Halo clan. Dragon had some previous gaming clan experience so he came up with the idea. We didn't have a forum or any other way of contact except through Halo so news of the clan forming was slow. Each person was informed and {SB} was created!

We communicated through email at first, wasn't organized at all. We slowly built members, but no shields were virtually unheard of at the time and for every person that liked it 100 hated it. Still a small clan of maybe 15 or so members {SB} was growing, but we still didn't have our own server. Jester had a spare computer and setup our first clan server, it was 12 players and the ping was better so we took a liking to it.

Soon after we came across a guy that went by the tag Odium, a scrappy guy that was on the server enough to get our attention, he was later invited it and he created the first SlingBlades website and forum from scratch at that. {SB} took off from there, we had a forum to communicate on and we were able to direct potential members to the site and evaluate them.

{SB} originally was run by a Dictatorship, since Dragon created SlingBlades and had the most experience he was fit for the job. It wasn't too much longer after the first forum was created that we started having problems with our leader. He was absent most of the time and when he came around he had his way. This didn't last long and the current members had a meeting and agreed to form a leadership with more opinions with 4 members as a check and balancing system so one person didn't have all the say-so. The Senate was created and its members were nominated and then voted on by the members. The first members voted in were Yosh, Target, Hpower and MadMan.

Last August, we created the [sb] sub-clan as a way to better evaluate potential recruits. Shortly after, the office of The Cabinet was created to oversee [sb] and run recruiting.

After dominating Halo for the last two years, we finally decided to expand into other games. You can find most of our members playing Counter-Strike:Source, and preparing for its' various gaming leagues. However, we will not leave Halo behind and forget our roots. Guild Wars has also been an addition to our clan.

Although we have had a few bumps in the road, we are still going stronger than ever and look to keep this clan established for years to come.
