Rules and Guidelines

Every good organization needs rules and guidelines. These aren't meant to hamper your gameplay or ruin your fun. In fact, these are in place to make sure everything runs smoothly so that everyone can have a good time.

General Rules for Everyone

Server (for general public):

- Trash talking and some cussing is acceptable in our servers (Hey, these are Mature rated games). However, don't let it get out of hand. If you are asked by an {SB} member to tone it down, please do so. Continuing after you've been warned will result in you being kicked from the server. If you come back and do it again, you will be banned for anytime we see fit.

- Any racist, degrading, or otherwise extremely derogatory comment is grounds for an immediate ban.

- Do not don the {SB} tag if you are not a member of our clan. Doing so will result in an immediate ban.

- {SB} members reserve the right to kick/ban when they feel it is appropriate. If you feel you were mistreated in anyway by a member, you can lodge a complaint on our forum. The senate members will thoroughly investigate the situation and get back to you on any possible resolutions to the matter.

Forum:

- Make a title that people can relate too. ^_^ or WTF!!?!?! is not a good title, you should best describe your post so that people should know what they are going to be reading about when they click it.

- Use Proper Grammer. I know this is hard for some of you, but using proper grammer AND spelling does a world of difference when reading it. Words like u,ppl, b/c etc. shouldn't be used, your writing is your impression on the forum. My impression when people use words like this, is that they are poorly educated and/or extremely lazy not to spell out the entire word. It just looks bad. Occasional spelling mistakes are fine. No one is perfect, but don't use "I can spell better if I put more effort into it" That's a weak excuse. Besides, the forum is equipped with a spell check button. USE IT.

- Avoid Double Posting. Double posting is another forum sin, which is posting twice in a row without letting someone else respond back. There is a wonderful MODIFY button on the top right of every post, USE IT. You can correct grammer or spelling errors or just change something you wrote.

- Avoid AIM Posting. This is when two people use the forum as their own personal messaging service, posts are made within seconds/minutes of each other holding a conversation that otherwise can be talked with on AIM or MSN messenger.
Download AIM and set-up an account, its easy. Most of {SB} uses AIM and if you'd like to play a match with someone just send a polite message offering to play.

- Use Common Sense When Posting. Don't respond to any post unless you have something constructive/witty/informational to add. And along those same guidelines, keep threads on topic, and don't make up pointless posts just so your post count can go higher. The only thing that changes as your post count goes higher is your noob status rank.

- Use the Forum Right. Post things in its proper section. If you want to post something about Halo, do it in the Halo section. If you want to post pictures of your cat, do it in the general section, and so on.

IRC Chat:

- Don't spam the channel with your advertisements. This can lead to a kicking, and a future ban if you continue to do it.

- Don't attempt to mimic or hijack anyone elses name. This will lead to an automatic banning.

- Don't don the [sb]/{SB} tag unless you are a part of the clan. This will lead to an automatic banning.

- Respect the channel ops and other members. Don't come in flaming people, or talking a bunch of trash. You will be removed.

Specific Rules for SlingBlades Members

Server

- Conduct yourself in a respectable manner, you are wearing the same {SB} tag as we all are, so your actions speak for the entire organization.

- Keep the profanity to a minimum, your intelligence reflects on how you speak, profanity is allowed otherwise. Trash talking is okay as well, just make sure you back it up.

- Try to make teams as evenly as possible, look at the score and help out the team that needs it.

- Be a respectful loser. If you died then it was for a reason. Don't contest it, just brush it off and wait for the next round/spawn. No one likes a complainer.

- Do not lower yourself to the standards of the other players, if someone is constantly Tk-ing or just being an ass, contact a server admin first, do not start a long verbal war upsetting the rest of the server. If all fails, make him feel unwanted by targeting them, after 5-10 consecutive kills they are more than likely to stop or leave.

- Play as a team.

- Do not wear the tag of any other clan - joking or not. Playing under aliases are fine, as long as they are appropriate and do not reference any other clan.

- If you're going to be afk for a long time, please have the sense to go to spectate mode, or leave the server so it does not ruin the game for everyone else.

- If you have access to rcon/admin, do not use it under an alias. This can lead to confusion in the server, or can lead to other potential problems.

- If you have access to rcon/admin, give a verbal warning before a kick and/or ban. Usually, a verbal warning will be enough to deter any players misbehaving to stop.

- The map gametypes are always changing, we bring in new ones and take out the old ones depending on our mood. If you have a suggestion for a new gametype please do so in the forum.

Ventrillo

- No excessive chatter when gaming. If you would like to chat about anything not gaming related when people are trying to play, please use the "make out room", or another free channel. But it is also recommended that if it is something you guys can take care of over AIM or any other instant messenger service please do so so you can keep vent open for players.

- Do not chat AT ALL after you die. In games such as CS, it makes it very difficult for the remaining players to concentrate on a round or hear anything in game. We have" all talk" set up in game for those who have died and are waiting out the round. If you can't contain yourself, don't use vent while playing.

- Keep your voice down. There are some people that use headphones so when you yell it does hurt our ears.

- Do NOT ghost “give away the other teams' position while in spectator”. This is a serious offense and is not taken lightly here.

- Use the channels properly. Again as stated above the "make out room" is where you go for general chatting. Other channels are named for it's specific game. Team 1 and Team 2 are for scrims, but can be used otherwise when we are not participating in one.
